The Riichi Mahjong Times - Insights from the Tiles!

If you’re passionate about Riichi Mahjong or just curious about the game, you’ve found the right place!

I started The Riichi Mahjong Times because it can be difficult to gather information spread across various Facebook groups and Discord servers. I also believe that behind the EMA numbers and names, there are real people, and I want us to know them better.

That’s why this newsletter includes photos, videos from tournaments, and interviews with players. I hope it helps bring the Riichi Mahjong community closer together.

“Who am I?”

I'm Anastasiia Veremenko.

I’ve been playing Riichi Mahjong since 2019, participating in tournaments and constantly learning from each experience. When I’m not competing, I enjoy analyzing games and discussing strategies with other players.

Here are some of my achievements:

  • I won a tournament in London in 2019 and secured a place at the World Riichi Championship (WRC), where I made it to the top 32.

  • I placed third in a tournament in Valencia in 2022.

  • I also took third place at the first WRL tournament in Cologne in 2024.

I hope to become a professional Mahjong player soon =)

What can you expect?

Here’s what you’ll find in the newsletter:

  • Information about past and upcoming tournaments

  • Interesting facts about Riichi Mahjong

  • Tips for improvement

  • Interviews and features with players

  • Puzzles with prizes in every episode

I also welcome contributions! If you have information or stories you’d like me to share, feel free to send it my way.

“Is it free?”

Yes, the newsletter is free for everyone to enjoy!

I’m also looking for sponsors to support this newsletter. The biggest way you can help is by supporting it and sharing it with your friends.
